[ PR data loss and recovery (update) ] October 16, 2009
After an instrument anomaly on May 29, 2009 the TRMM PR resumed observations on June 17th, 2009.
All TRMM PR production data is currently being held until a calibration effort is completed, but they have not been released.
[ 6th Precipitation Measuring Mission Science Research Announcement ] August 10, 2009
In this sixth Precipitation Measuring Mission (PMM) Science Research
Announcement relating to the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM)
mission and the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite,
JAXA is announcing the opportunity for research.
On May 29, 2009, the TRMM PR experienced a major anomaly, resulting in a
loss of data. JAXA and NASA have inferred that a frequency converter and
interface system unit might not be worked normally.
JAXA and NASA were able to successfully switch those two units to the
backup systems on June 17 and the PR became operational again.
Note that this change could have some impact on the data.
JAXA and NASA will be examining the data over the next month or longer
to determine what, if any, changes have occurred.
