AMSR Research Product Distribution Service - JAXA Earth Observation Research Center

The AMSR Research Product Distribution Service provides research products from the AMSR series satellites free of charge.
User registration is required to obtain the products on this service. Please read the terms and conditions carefully and agree on them before the registration at "User Registration".

*AMSR3 research products will be provided through this service.

The delay in Providing Part of the GCOM-W Research Product on Soil Moisture Content
There has been a delay in the provision of the standard mode version of the Soil Moisture Content data from the GCOM-W/AMSR2 research product since June 19, 2025.

The near real-time version continues to be distributed as usual.

The delayed products will be released sequentially once the issue is resolved.

10GHz sea surface temperature is stored in the second layer of AMSR-E / AMSR2 standard products. Please download the standard products distributed at G-Portal for your use.
Multi-frequency SSTs are stored in the third layers of AMSR2 standard products. Please download the standard products distributed at G-Portal for your use.
The snow depth and soil moisture products are distributed as AMSR-E / AMSR2 standard products, but the latest version processed using the algorithm under development for AMSR3 is distributed as a research product.
AMSR-E brightness temperature data in slow rotation mode are for researchers.

File Format

AMSR2 / AMSR-E research products are in compliance with the HDF5 format of the AMSR2 standard products. However, the sea ice motion vectors (SIM) are in an original format.

For the research products, the quality flag is not described in the format description of the standard products. Please refer to the "Product Summary" of each product in the AMSR Data Catalog.
