Floods in Northern Kyusyu (Aug, 2019)

Torrential rain hit southwestern Japan. In Saga prefecture in Kyushu, the hourly precipitation exceeded 100 millimeters. According to the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, the flooding there hit an ironworks factory and caused what appears to be oil to spill out.
TE-Japan, which is regional high resolution version of Today’s Earth, reproduced this flood event well in terms of the flood fraction. We have confirmed that estimated flood areas are consistent with the results by the ALOS-2/PALSAR-2 observation.
