Access:

New Tokyo International (Narita) Airport to the venue/ the conference hotel.
The best way to get to the University of Tokyo (the Venue) or to Hotel Forest Hongo (the conference hotel) is to take Skyliner trains operated by Keisei Electric Railway to Keisei-Ueno Station. From there, please take bus or taxi to those destinations.

  1. New Tokyo International (Narita) Airport to Keisei Ueno Station
    At the Narita Airport Terminal-1, Keisei-Station ticketing counter is located at B1 floor.You could buy ticket at either a ticketing counter or vending machines. At the Terminal-2, Keisei-Station can be found at next to the information counter on the ground floor. The ticket price is 1,920yen(Adult.) The trains operated daily between 7:40am and 9:50pm, and run every 40 minutes or so. The travel time is 56 minutes.If you need to travel outside the operating hours, please consult the secretariat for your travel plan.

    *Hotel Forest Hongo is 15 minutes by taxi from UENO Station.
    *The cost is about 1,600 yen.

    If taking Toei bus, please get off at Todai-Byoin-mae Bus stop. From the bus stop, it takes for a while on foot to the University of Tokyo or Forest Hongo. Please exit to Main Gate. Across the Hongo-dori and go straight the narrow street for 2 blocks. The hotel will be found on your right.

■Travel Information

  • Currency Exchange
    The currency is the yen. The exchange rate was \105 at the time of printing. Money can be exchanged at major banks and limited number of hotels.
    Banknotes: 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 yen. Coins: 1, 5, 10, 50, 100, 500 yen.
    *Currency Exchange is available at the post office located in front of the University of Tokyo.
        Business hours: Mon-Fri, 9:00-16:00
  • Traveler's Cheque, Credit Cards & VAT
    Traveler's cheques are not as widely used in Japan as in most other countries and are accepted only by major banks and hotels. Major credit cards are widely accepted. Conventional checks are almost unheard of in everyday life. The consumption tax (VAT) rate is 5%.
  • Insurance
    Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own overseas travel insurance.
  • Time
    In relation to Greenwich, Tokyo is +9 hours.
  • Electrical Appliances
    100-110 volts and a flat two-pronged plug, type A, are used. A Japanese quirk: 60 Hz in western Japan; 50 Hz in eastern Japan, including Tokyo. Please use your own electrical outlet adapter to adjust the AC plug on your equipment to the above-mentioned Japanese AC power supply as it is difficult to purchase it locally. Please bring the power transformer such as from 200V AC to 100V AC.
  • Tipping
    Tips are not required or expected in Japan, at hotels, restaurants and anywhere else. A 10-20 percent service charge is included in some bills.
  • Passport and Visa
    Visitors from nations whose citizens must have visas should apply to a Japanese consular office or diplomatic mission in their country.
