Getting Started with Data
Notes on the usage of PALSAR-3 standard product
- PALSAR-3 standard products (observation images) are provided through data service providers or through agreements or joint research contracts with JAXA (e.g. Earth Observation Research Announcement). Higher-order products produced by JAXA EORC, such as annual global mosaics and forest/non-forest maps, can be downloaded and used from the "DataSet" list on the top page of this website.
- To check the specifications and file formats of PALSAR-3 standard products, please refer to the Product Definition and Product Format Description (CEOS, GeoTIFF) in the "PALSAR-3 Standard Product Document" below.
- To check quality information and data conversion to physical quantity, please refer to the "Calibration and Validation" page
- [Important] JAXA is currently continuing to adjust some image quality. For more information, please see this notification. (updated May 2025)
Documents for PALSAR-3 Standard Products
- The format of PALSAR-3 standard products (L1.1, CEOS) has some differences from PALSAR-2. Python sample code to convert PALSAR-3 L1.1 CEOS format to PALSAR-2 CEOS format (high-resolution mode only) is available here

PALSAR-3 Sample Product
The following sample products are standard products whose qualities were confirmed in calibration and validation of PALSAR-3.
Please pay attention to the file size that sometime large (Around 10GB for L1.1, 2GB for L2.1).
This dataset is available to use with no charge under the "Terms of Use of Research Data".
To publish images using the dataset as it is, please display "©JAXA" in the image.
