LEVEL 3 BINNED PRODUCT

Introduction

Level 3 Binned product data are integrated from Level 2 GAC data for specified period. Level 3 Binned products are classified into three products: ocean color, vegetation and sea surface temperature. There are products corresponding to the integration period of a day, a week, a month and a year. Each product is separated header and each datas. (note 1)

Ocean color product store following data:

Vegetation indices product stores following data. Sea surface temperature product stores following data (note 1) If you try to access to multiple files of level 3Binned product by HDF libraries, all files must be stored current directory.

Note that the data types in throughout this document are expressed with followings:
Chcharacter line
Short2 byte integer (signed)
Ushort2 byte integer (unsigned)
Long4 byte integer (signed)
Ulong4 byte integer (unsigned)
Real4 byte real number
Double8 byte real number

Level 3 Binned Data V Group in Main File

The Level 3 Binned product V data listed in each subsection bellow belong to the V group Level 3 Binned Data which is of class Planetary Grid. For OCTS Level 3 Binned products, this V group is spread over multiple HDF files. Ocean color product consists of a main file and 5 subordinate files and vegetation product and sea surface temperature product consists of a main file and only one subordinate file. If you try to access to these main file and subordinate files by HDF libraries, all files must be stored on current directory.

The main file contains the global attributes described above as well as the V data described in this subsection.

Level 3 Binned Data V group in Subordinate Files

The Level 3 binned product V data listed below belong to the V group Level 3 Binned Data which is of class Planetary Grid. For OCTS Level 3 binned products, the V group is spread over multiple HDF files: a main file and subordinate files. If you try to access to these main file and subordinate files by HDF libraries, all files must be stored on current directory.

Each subordinate file consists of one or several V data of class Data Subordinate and each V data is named for the geophysical quality being binned as follows :
