Activities of EORC
The Earth Observation Research Center (EORC) was founded to conduct Earth-observing satellite data acquisition, processing, and research in April 1995. We will introduce EORC's main activities below.
Analysis of Satellite Data and Scientific Research
We analyze observation data acquired by Earth-observing satellites, develop algorithms to derive geophysical parameters and to calibrate and validate satellite data, and try to maintain the quality of the data.
We also promote research and application of satellite data in the fields of meteorology, control of forestry and fisheries resources, disaster prevention and national land use, and global environmental changes. We have implemented the following projects to conduct these activities smoothly.
Research Project
Research of Earth Observation Instrumentation, and Development and Operation of the Ground System of Earth-Observing Satellite Data
We conduct research on new Earth observation instrumentation, and develop and operate the ground system for Earth-observing satellite data. As part of this task, we operate the Earth Observation Center (EOC) to receive, process, and provide satellite data.
Cooperation with Related Institutions
To promote the use of satellite data, we also cooperate with related domestic and foreign institutions as well as international organizations, and engage in mutual use of data, data research, and application.
