We have released new version of Level 3 daily & monthly Sea Surface Temperature (SST) products (version 2.2).
PLEASE NOTE that distribution of old version (Ver.2.1) will be concluded on Apri. 30, 2024 (UTC) to support users to make transition from Ver.2.1 to Ver.2.2.

Changes in Version 2.2 :
- Daily SST data is calculated from Level 3 hourly data instead of Level 2 10-minute data. In addition to the "daily minimum SST" originally distributed, "daily mean SST" and "daily maximum SST" are added to the Level 3 daily file.
- Monthly SST data is calculated from the daily mean SST data instead of hourly SST data.

In addition, the older version files (Ver.1.0 & 1.1) of SST product have been removed from the FTP server.

Noise was mixed into the version 2.1 Himawari sea surface temperature(SST) product from October 3, 2022 to May 21, 2023. Therefore, we reprocessed the Himawari SST products in 10 minutes (Level 2), hourly (Level 3), daily (Level 3), and monthly (Level 3).
The file version number has been changed to "fv02.0" or "fv03.0".

[Distribution of the Himawari-9 test data]
Towards scheduled replacement of the Himawari-8 to the Himawari-9 in Dec. 2022, Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) started test data dissemination of the Himawari-9 in parallel with the Himawari-8 since Sep. 27, 2022. JAXA P-TREE system also started data dissemination of the Himawari-9 HSD files. File format of the Himawari-9 data is the same to that of Himawari-8 except file name is started with "H09". JAXA also plans to distribute Level 1 NetCDF and geophysical parameter products of Himawari-9 after checking data status.

A problem in cloud screening process of Himawari Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Level-2 and 3 products during Feb. 15 to Jul. 27 2018 was found. Currently, we are reprocessing SST products and will announce when they are available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have released new version of HIMAWARI-8 Aerosol Property products (version 2.0), Short Wave Radiation / Photosynthetically Available Radiation products (version 1.0), and Chlorophyll-a products (version 1.0).
We newly started distribution of level-3 of Wild Fire products, and daily, monthly dataset for Short Wave Radiation / Photosynthetically Available Radiation products, Chlorophyll-a products. >>detail
PLEASE NOTE that the previous version of the updated products (L2 and L3 Aerosol, L2 SWR/PAR) will stop its distribution from 5 February 2018. The new version of these products during the past observation period will be processed and provided as soon as they are available.

[Realtime distribution is resumed]
We resume realtime distribution of Himawari data and products. Part of L1 NetCDF and L2 geophysical product files may be missed, because we are currently processing data during the suspended period. Those product files will be uploaded to the server after processing is completed.

[Realtime distribution of Himawari data is temporarily suspended]
Due to the power supply problem occurred at 05UTC on 17th Dec. 2016, realtime distribution of Himawari data and products is temporarily suspended. Currently, we are working on recovery efforts and plan to resume the realtime distribution today. Sorry for any inconvenience.
