Eruption

From these two satellite images acquired before (upper left) and after (upper right) the eruption on Miyakejima in August 2002, we can determine the distribution of smoke, volcanic ash deposits, and depressions in land surfaces. From the lower image taken by an airplane, we can determine the distribution of lava and use this information for damage-level charts.
