Innoshima Bridge

innoshima_e.jpg With total length 1,270 m and main towers reaching to 145 m above sea surface, the Innoshima Bridge was completed in 1983 as the longest suspension bridge in Asia. The bridge girders weighing approximately 30,000 tons are supported by cable ropes suspended from the main cables between the two main towers. At about 41 m above the sea surface there is a corridor for pedestrian and bicycles while 9 meters higher is a full lane road. This two story structure is the characteristic of this bridge.
