Overview
The LIS is an optical staring telescope and filter imaging system which will acquire and investigate the distribution and variability of both intracloud and cloud-to-ground lightning over the earth. The LIS data will also be used with PR, TMI and VIRS data to investigate the correlation of the global incidence of lightning with rainfall and other storm properties.
