1st Research Announcement (Validation)

In this first Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer (EarthCARE) Research Announcement (Validation), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is announcing for the research proposals that contribute to the validation of JAXA EarthCARE Standard and Research Products. As long as they are for nonprofit and peaceful purpose, all categories of domestic and foreign organization may apply this RA. However, funding may differ for each research category and applicant.

1. Outline of this research announcement

The objectives of the EarthCARE mission are to evaluate the radiative forcing of cloud and aerosol, which are the uncertainties in the climate change prediction, and to observe the interactions between cloud and aerosol. Therefore, this research announcement seeks to conduct researches that contribute to the preparation of the implementation plan for validation activity after the launch. As this research announcement covers a 2-year research period from JFY 2013 to JFY 2014, which will end before the launch of EarthCARE.

Proposals with complete sets of attachments, such as reprints of papers, should be converted to PDF format and sent via E-mail to the EarthCARE Research Announcement Office (see section 3).

Proposers without access to the Web or who experience difficulty in using this site may contact EarthCARE Research Announcement Office for assistance.

Proposals must arrive no later than November 19, 2012.
