Mission Implementation Structure

JAXA/NICT is jointly responsible for the CPR, while the other sensors (ATLID, MSI, BBR) are being developed by the European Space Agency (ESA). The satellite bus, launch, and tracking control will be performed under ESA. The data from each sensor will be processed by the agency which develops the sensor, thus JAXA/NICT will process the CPR data. The processed data (Level 1 data) will be stored at both JAXA and ESA and subsequently used for higher-level processing.

Table 1 shows the division of roles between JAXA and ESA in EarthCARE.
