Global 0.25 grid Monthly Chlorophyll-a Concentration
and Sea Surface Temperature Images from OCTS Data

Monthly global 0.25 grid chlorophyll-a concentration (CHL) and
sea surface temperature (SST) images are available on this page.
We made these images from the OCTS daily Level 3 Binned Map
(L3BM) data^* by the following process:

1. Quality Check (uniformity test for log values of CHL and
   SST and the comparison with preliminary monthly data for CHL),

2. 0.25 spatial and monthly temporal mean (linear mean).

^*The daily L3BM data are developed from resampled data, which are made
in each path and about 4km resolution, by averaging for the 99km equal area
and 1-day bins and mapping for an equal latitude and longitude grid.
The algorithm version of OCTS L3BM data is " Version 3 "
