| Operation of Mission Instruments and Processing of Received Data
ADEOS conducts simultaneous observations using a variety of mission instruments which enable acquisition of the vast quantities of data necessary to solve the earth's environmental problems.
Out of the mission instruments onboard ADEOS, five instruments, inluding OCTS and TOMS, make global atmospheric and oceanin observations. Observation data from these instruments is recorded by three Mission Data Recorders (MDRs) and two Low speed Mission Data Recorders (LMDRs). This data is then reproduced at high speed and transmitted over ground stations such as the Earth Observation Center (EOC).
EOC receives, processes and distributes AVNIR and OCTS data with a help of NASA. Observation Data from AO sensors is processed by the respective organizations which provided the instrument, and then distributed by the organizations and NASDA.
ADEOS Data Acquision and Processing System
Real time AVNIR data is transmitted to foreign ground stations on the basis of treaties, and sampled data of OCTS is transmitted directly to fishery ships and survey ships by Direct Transmition for Local users (DTL).
EOC, in cooperation with the Tracking and Control Center (TACC), generates operation plans for mission instruments and mission data recorders on board ADEOS and the ground station. These plans are based upon requests from AO sensor organizations, data users, foreign ground stations, etc. |
