Rio de Janeiro is the second biggest commercial and industrial city with a population of 5.6 million people, following Sao Paulo in Brazil. It is considered one of the world's three most beautiful ports, with its scenic surrounding scenery.

In the middle of Bay of Guanabara, is the Governador Island. On this island, is the international Rio de Janeiro Airport. It is connected to southern Fundao Island and the mainland by bridges. This quay just southeast of Fundao Island is seen connected to Niteroi city on the opposite coast by the Rio Niteoi Great Bridge. A small Maua quay is seen south of the mid part of the bridge and a domestic airport, Santos Dumont Airport, at the eastern end of the quay. The whole region covering the airport and the quay is the downtown of Rio de Janeiro. Over the downtown area, are white clouds and their shadows are clearly reflected on the image. Southward from here, is Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon, and on the west side of it, is horse race track. Easrward from this lagoon, is Copacabana Beach, and to the south, is Ipanema Beach. The white sand on both beaches is brightly seen.

The whitish dot-like entities scattered in the center of the bay are plying ships. From the entrance of the bay through the offshore, can be seen ripples caused by sea water's incoming and outgoing exchanges with the Atlantic. The whole region eastward across from Governador Island shows well developed residential areas and the like revealing numerous narrow streets.
