Death Valley
With the scorching sun, fierce unconfined rock moutains, deep valleys by a river flowing with a mixture of sand and salt, the heat surpassing 56 degrees Celsius in the desert deprives the lifeblood of all the living things. This is a deadly ravine, "Dearth Valley".
A national park, Dearth Valley located 200km northwest of Las Vegas, in the western part of the United States, is a completely dried up region with an area of 220km from north to south and 7 to 25km in WIDTH = , featuring diversified topography with its deepest valley reaching 86m below sea level while moutains 2,000 to 3,000m high range nearby.
This was called so first by a gold dust washer who got lost and escaped narrowly from this valley, saying, "Good bye, Dearth Valley"
This image shows the area near Furnace Creek, the central part of the national park. The red short lines in the northern center of the image indicate that there is very little vegetation. This image is processed by computer so as to show vegetation in red. This clear red dots in the southeastern part is presumed to be some vegetation planted by men. Isn't it ironical that an attempt to creat nature artificially gives a touch of a more deserted atmosphere than desert itself, given this presumption is right.
