This image shows Berlin, a capital city of Germany, and its 27 squere km area centered on Alexander Plaza located in the middle of the city. Beforeit was unifined into one Germany in 1989, about half of the area to the west was called West Berlin and other half to the east, East Brlin. Around the center of the image, near Brandenburger Tor, a part of the berlin Wall still exists.

The green porting of the image indicate vegetation, and dark areas around the center, building of the downtown section. Green spots scattered in the downtown area indicate green tracks of land such as parks. The dark black area indicate water, the Spree River is shown flowing in a meandering course from east to west to Lake Tegeler in the northwest and Lake Havel in the southwest. Thin and straight stripes indicate canals. The white spots indicates vast and flat grounds auch as sirport facilities and agricultural fields.

Berlin has developed as an industrial city, and it is said that infrastructures in transportation such as railways, roads and canals extending in radiating directions from Alexander Plaza as its core contributed a lot to its growth.
