Beijing is the capital of Republic of China, a center of the politics as well as a historic spot. The population is eight million, only exceeded by that of Shanghai.

Slightly to the left below from the center of the image, are an oblong lake and a neighboring squere spot where the Palace Museum is to be found. From here road network can be seen going north to south and east to west.

The Beijing Airport is seen 25km northeast of Beijing. The three sides of the image, the northern and western part are surrounded with mountains, leaving the southern plain open. On the north, dams and lakes located in the neighboring mountainous region from the water reservoir for Beijing.

In China, there is a saying, "Goven facing the south" which means that it is best administering politics in the enthronement, with the three sides surrounded by mountains. This is because it has been imperative for rulers in China to repress the northern rebellious nomads and that the capital is located appropriate for these tactics, which has been the basis of keeping this historical city over 1,000 years.

In 1420, Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty called Yuan of the Gen Beijing, and built the Palace of the Forbidden there, which in turn was succeeded and enlarged in the Quing era. Now in a reborn China, it has been turned into the Palace Museum and open to the public and foreign tourists.
