The first light images from the GPM Core Observatory were released jointly between JAXA and NASA.
The GPM Core Observatory was successfully launched by the H-IIA Launch Vehicle No. 23 from JAXA Tanegashima Space Center at 3:37 a.m. on February 28 (Fri.) 2014 (JST).

The GPM Core Observatory will be launched at 3:07 a.m. on February 28, 2014 (JST) by H-IIA F23 rocket from JAXA Tanegashima Space Center.
At 2 a.m. on 27th November, the GPM Core Observatory has arrived to JAXA Tanegashima Space Center. It is scheduled to be launched in early 2014.
