Objectives of this workshop were to exchange information about all aspects of the GPM mission, such as program, technology, science, ground validation and data utilization, and to promote partnership. In addition, representatives from space agencies and meteorological and hydrological agencies in Asian countries participated to the workshop and discussed about the GPM data utilization in Asian regions.

The workshop was held by JAXA, NICT and NASA. We updated the GPM status, and discussed plans for full utilization of the GPM data. The plans included not only for science, but also for also for operational applications, such as short-term forecast improvement, disaster prevention, flood warning, and water resources managements.

In this workshop, we will overview the achievement of TRMM, discuss possibility of utilizing TRMM data in water cycle and climate research and also discuss possible operational uses of future satellite precipitation data in GPM era in Asia.
